Each tree gets its own serial number and GPS coordinates, so you can find yours on the plantation. The plantations are checked by drone, and more trees are planted than sold, to keep a reserve for any that do not make it.
Two income streams, and nothing for you to manage. The yearly payment comes from the CO₂ the trees take up, sold as certificates on the voluntary market, where prices move; until those sales come in, it is paid from reserves. The second stream is the timber, bought back at harvest.

More trees are planted than sold, and reserve plantations, one of them in France, replace damaged trees, as far as those reserves allow. The replacement covers the tree, not your money or your yearly payment, and trees lost to drought, insects, fungi or severe winters are excluded. The terms and the risk factors set out the details.
You can lose all or part of what you paid. The yearly payments depend on the sale of CO₂ certificates and, until then, on the grower's reserves.
